The NSX engine is supported by four rubber mounts, but considering the weight of the engine, they are not sufficient when compared with those used on other vehicles. They also deteriorate significantly over time, and there are many cases where the rubber has actually torn.
However, because the NSX has an aluminum body, using mounts that are too rigid, similar to those found on race cars, can cause problems. We therefore completed the mounts by filling them with a resin of an appropriate hardness.
By properly controlling the engine’s large movement in the rotational direction, it is possible to improve traction performance without introducing unpleasant vibrations into the cabin.
